Spring break without drinking would be very uncommon. If you are a student who is going to drink alcohol on Spring Break, at least be aware of the dangers and take precautions. Excessive drinking on Spring Break can lead to things like alcohol poisoning, unprotected sex, assault and drunk driving.
One of the problems of spring break is underage drinking. This can put a black mark on your student record and your criminal record. One of the main problems is the liquor stores and distributors are selling the alcohol to the minors. Parents are so concerned about drinking that about 70% of parents don’t pay for their kids to go on spring break. The sad thing is that it is not the their kids that the parents don’t trust but it is the other kids who don’t know when to stop. While students are on spring break in places like Mexico or Florida or a location where there are plenty of beaches. Drinking and the hanging out in the hot sun do not mix. This is where kids can get into real trouble. Spring break should be able to enjoyed by everyone and parents should not have to worry that their kids are going to drink until they pass out or that someone who has been drinking could seriously hurt their child who hasn’t been drinking. How can parents help? It can be a good start for parents to talk to their kids and see how they feel about the subject. Sometimes parents won’t be able to tell if their kids know the dangers well enough to not drink on spring break. The only way is to trust in your kids and for the most part kids on spring break get carried away maybe the first day but soon after learn their lesson with the world’s worst hangover. Why go through all of that. The answer is don’t get carried away. Telling students not to drink while on spring break is like telling a gambler not to gamble in the casino. But parents can only instill the dangers into their kids and explain to them about moderation. Parents can’t stop their kids from drinking but they can keep them from acting irresponsibly and hurting other kids. |
