There are over 150 hotels in the area, this may sound like a lot but when you are competing with hundreds of college students wanting to stay there are the same time, the competition for a room could be fierce. So plan your vacation a year or 6 to 8 months ahead of time.
There are 380 different restaurants in the vicinity and in addition to spring breakers you have vacationers arriving daily. There is a Hotel Zone located in Cancun; it is shaped like 7 with bridges built on all sides. Try to choose hotels that are closer to the beach, the hotels that are located on the vertical or longer side of the 7 has more beach erosion and the beaches are just not as nice and the other side. Within this zone, you will have a more accommodations that start from very inexpensive to very expensive, There are shopping malls, theme parks and you can even take a once in a lifetime trip and swim with the dolphins. There are boat excursions and Jet Ski jungle tours located on the other side of the Island. During spring break the temperature range from 80 degrees during the day and 77 degrees Fahrenheit at night. There is so such to see, you can have a great time lying on the white sand beaches but if you want to get the full extent of Cancun, you can visit the local Mayan Archaeological Sites all over Mexico. Though Cancun is a great place to visit, there are some safety concerns that you need to know. There are many kidnappings that occur in Mexico on a daily basis. Never travel to Mexico alone, always go with a group of friends. Stay in groups if you leave the confines of the Hotel Zone. Some places right outside of the zone are considered to be not safe areas. Never go off on your own, always make sure that you tell your roommates where you are. Never invite someone you just met to your room and never visit a strangers room alone either. Keep your cell phone charged at all times. It is a great idea to do some research for the hotel that you wish to visit. Check out what security features are available. Make sure that you keep all of the numbers for the Police, Hotel Security and your friends with you. If you are on a high school spring trip, keep your advisors number programmed into your cell phone too. You may never think that it could happen to you but you can’t control everything all the time. The best that you can do is understand where you are and be aware of your surroundings. |
