If you have decided to spend your spring break traveling abroad there are some things that you should know. The first thing that you have to do when you decide to go overseas is to choose a destination that is safe. Places like United Kingdom, Spain, France, and Australia are very safe locations to travel to. This is not to say that since these are great places to see that you don’t have to be careful. If you have never been overseas then you should do some research about the location where you want to go. You should know the safety of the country and what sites you wish to see and where they are located.

You want to stay someplace central to the sites that you want to see. This will cut down on the amount of traveling that you have do through the country. There are plenty of hotels that are centrally located to big places to sightsee. You should make arrangements far enough in advance as well. Just because you are on spring break and other students may not be going to the same place as you, there are still plenty of tourists around who are going to the same place. A great place to stay if you are on a budget is to stay at Youth Hostels. These are dorm like hotels that rent out beds as opposed to rooms.

They are cheaper than hotels and other students stay at these hostels for a few days. Hotels are accommodating to guests to plan on staying a week or more. There are plenty of hostels especially in places like Spain, England and France. All it takes is a little research and a lot of determination. Once you have decided upon a destination then you will need to apply for a passport. You can get a passport through your local Post Office and get your picture from a local picture place.

Traveling abroad is not like traveling through your home state. You have no idea where anything is; you are not familiar with the customs or the way things works in other countries. You will want to have the number to your country’s embassy with you. You should have the local Police Department’s phone number and all of the numbers that you need. When you travel through another country it would be a good idea to travel light and leave your valuables at home. Try to travel with travelers’ cheques and leave your cash at home.

The best way to travel is to travel with a group of friends, this way you would feel safer and you could travel a lot lighter if you and your friends would share the load of necessities. It takes a lot of time to plan out and if you plan it right you could have a great time and save a lot of money. Talk to your parents about your plans and see if they have any advice for you. You want to have a great time but a safe time too.
