How To Have A Safe Spring BreakRelated ArticlesCollege students have a reason to be excited this school term and that time comes in March, this is known as the ritual Spring Break. We have often heard the horror stories about spring break and what can happen if we are not careful. You should know before you leave on vacation on how to be safe. Most students don’t think that anything will happen to them but the students that have gotten hurt, assaulted, sick or worse probably thought the same exact thing. Here are some safety tips that you can take while planning your trip.
Tip # 1: Make sure that you plan ahead. Plan your hotel and airfare way ahead of time and make sure that you receive a receipt or a confirmation number. There have been plenty of times where reservations were lost and students arrived at their spring break location with no place to stay. Call your airline and hotel a week before you leave and confirm your reservation. Tip # 2: Leave your valuables at home; don’t assume that nothing is going to happen to your Prada handbag while on vacation. Take the risk out of the equation and leave credit cards and expensive jewelry at home. Most kids take camcorders on vacation. Make sure that you have the case for it and keep it in a locked suitcase when you travel. Take out some travel insurance for your belongings to ensure that if you lose the camcorder or other valuable items that you have the insurance to cover it. Talk to the airlines or a travel agent about getting insurance. Tip # 3: Travel in a group. You should never travel to spring break alone. There is safety in numbers and you will have a much better time with friends than by yourself. Make sure that you have all of your friends cell phone numbers with you and make sure that your cell phone is always charged. Tip # 4: If you are planning a road trip to spring break, make sure that you or anyone else in your car does not drink and drive. It is very important that you fill your car with gas and always be on the look out for rest stops. Make sure your tires are inflated and that your fluids are filled up. The last thing you want to do is get stuck on the highway. If you have AAA, make sure that the premium is paid up. Tip # 5: Make sure that you check in your parents on a regular basis. This may nit seem like something you want to do, but they have put their trust in you to go away the least you can do is give them a call once a day to let them know that you are ok. These are just some ways to stay safe; there are hundreds of ways to protect yourself while on spring break. Always be aware of your surroundings and make sure that you and your friends never leave a club or bar with someone you don’t know and never accept a ride from someone you don’t know either. You can have a great spring break but have a safe one too. |
