    Finding the funding that you need for College can be very frustrating and intimidating. If you are looking for a lender to offset the cost of tuition and books, you will find that there are hundreds of different lenders out there. So how can you choose which lender is right for you. There are some things that you will want to consider before looking for a lender. Take a look at the list we have complied for you and see if this information can help you choose the right lender for you.

    You will want to find out if the lender can offer you any discounts, rebates or an interest reduction program. There are some lenders out there that have these special types of programs. But some do not advertise them; so make sure that you ask them when shopping around for possible lenders. You will also want to find out if these lenders take part in the unsubsidized Stafford and or PLUS programs. If you are deemed eligible for these programs then you should find out how to apply for them.

    If you already possess a student loan then you should continue to borrow from the same lender. It would make approval for other loans easier and it would make keeping track of loans more efficient. Since these lenders are private lenders they will require a credit check on parents who wish to apply for PLUS Loans and if you wish to apply for a Stafford Loans, there may be credit checks done as well.

    You should also find out which lenders will offer a deferred payment plan. Some of the lenders have a repayment plan that starts right away and others have a deferment. You will also want to get a lender that has a fixed interest rather than a variable rate. You should make list of the all of the lenders that you will be considering. Then make a comparison list of what lenders have which rates, the method of payment and the length of time it will take to make repayment.

    Some of the other criteria that you wish to check are the following. You will want to know if they accept electronic transfers, do they offer consolidated loans, do they offer Stafford Subsidized Loans are there Blanket guarantees. There is so much to know when it comes to borrowing money especially when there is a lot of money for College funding. There is so much out there right now, you just have to know where to look. Don’t take the first loan offered to you.

    As long as you start early you can take your time and do the proper research when it come down to that has the best rate. Make sure that the loan you sign is the best for you. Make sure that you choose a loan that you can pay back on time. You should start looking for a loan at the beginning of your Senior Year in High School.
