    Not every College Student is between the ages of 18 and 23. Adults whom have had kids often wish to return to college. Some of them need financial aid. Just because they are adults doesn’t mean that they have tons of money for College. There is funding for Adult College Students out there because you have been out of High School for a few years you may not know what you need to do to get started.

    Just like for students right out of high school, you will need to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. This form will help you and the lenders decide how much money they are going to give you. Since you will be paying for College yourself you can leave out the part where they want to know what your parents income is. This application can be filled out online, simply type if FAFSA into the search box and there are hundreds of results that can direct you to the website where you have to fill out this information.

    You will need the following information:

    · Your Social Security Card and Drivers License · You will need your W2 Forms or any other record of earned income for both you and your spouse. You will also need for Federal Income Tax Return. · You will need your bank statements and records pertaining to stocks, bonds and other investments · You will need any information on any other financial aid you will be receiving.

    What you can do is if your household income has not changed too much, you can take the line item from your tax return This is your total tax, now divide that by your adjusted gross income and then multiply this number by your estimate of this year’s adjusted gross income. This will show how much you will have to pay in taxes. There are some other forms that you may have to fill out, these forms include the CSS Profile, this form has to be completed before you file the FAFSA, you can also apply for this online.

    Each College will use these forms to determine how much aid you are eligible for. The main section that they will concentrate on is how much the EFC will be, this is the Expected Family Contribution, this is how much money in this case you and your spouse will be contributing to your own College tuition. These numbers vary and if you can’t contribute that much don’t worry that is why these loans and grants are given.

    You will be eligible for these popular forms of funding, the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant, Work Study, Federal Work Study, Federal Stafford and Perkins Loans. It doesn’t stop with these loans, you can get state aid and even corporate and employers benefits. You have to make sure that you find out deadlines on all of your applications to ensure that your financial aid paperwork gets in on time.
