Decorating Your Dorm Room

You are going to spending the next 9 months of the next year in your dorm room. You should try to make the space you have as comfortable as possible. Dorm rooms can be pretty boring, so you should spice up your room or your half of the room if you will be having a roommate. If you have requested your own dorm room, you will have asset of rules of things you can and connate have in your room. For example, there will be no smoking so bringing an ash try if you smoke is not a good idea.

Find out if having a mini fridge is allowed on Campus. Most College allow for mini fridges. You can find one on Craig’s List or eBay if you don’t want to spend a lot of money. You should bring a few sheets sets with you, there are laundry facilities on Campus but you want to maybe keep 2 or 3 on hand. Buy some big comfy pillows, these pillows look great and when you want to study in bed you can relax with these pillows.

If you are a coffee drinker, bring a small electric coffee maker; offer to share it with your roommate. If you are sharing a dorm, then you want to be considerate of your roommate. You don’t to have any offensive on the walls or anything in plain sight. Chances are you will be bringing your stereo; try to find a pair of headphone for it before you arrive on Campus. While sharing your music with your roommate is great, if you like to listen to music while studying and your roommate like quiet, then this is where the headphone come into play.

You can set up your desk with matching accessories like desk lamp, desk blotter and all of the pencils, pens, calculator that you need. If each of you has a window you can buy some curtains or some cool shades for the window. If there is one window, most likely there will be a set of shades already. The idea is to make your dorm room like your room at home for the next 9 months.

If aren’t sure how you should decorate your room, find out what you can’t have in the room, chances are you can’t have candles or anything that creates fire. Once you have seen what is allowed and what isn’t you will want to start making a list of what you would like, Remember these rooms are not that big so try to keep these decorations small.
