Scholarship America

Scholarship America started back in 1958; the company was started on a simple idea that if every person in a community gave just one dollar to a separate education fund it could help students go to College. The idea was called Dollars for Scholars. This concept is still being practiced today; there are more than 1200 locally based chapters in Massachusetts. These organizations are grassroots organizations and they provide thousands of dollars for students to go to school every year. Here are some of the scholarships that are available for next year,

The AXA Achievement Scholarships, this scholarship is sponsored by the AXA Foundation. They work with the U.S News and World Report. This award is open for high school students who will be attending a 2 or 4year undergraduate program. The requirements are that you must be a United States Citizen or legal residence. You have to be able to show that you have showed ambition and selfdrive in schoolwork or by helping out your community. For more information check out axaachievement.com.

The Best Buy Scholarship, this is sponsored by the Best Buy Children’s Foundation. This award is available to students who are currently enrolled in grades 9 to 12 and they live in the Unites States and Puerto Rico. You must be planning to attend a College or a vocational school after graduating high school. These awards are mostly given out to students who have good grades, have some ties to community programs and extra curricular school activities. The Charley Wootan Grant Program, this is a Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation that has already given out more than $ 2 million dollars. $ 1 million has already gone to students in Texas and the other million has gone to students on Washington D.C and other States.

The James Beard Foundation Scholarship Program was set up to help culinary students get ahead =by attending a licensed or an accredited culinary school. There are some other scholarships out there such as the Sallie Mae Fund Unmet Need Scholarship Programs, NSHMBA Scholarships Program, National Hydropower Association Past President’s Legacy Scholarship Program. There are so many out there that you just have to know where to start looking. Websites and companies like Scholarship America are out there to help students who need the additional funding.
