If you are a Senior in High School and you are looking ahead to your College Years then you will want to start to secure financial backing as soon as you know which College you are going to. More and more students are turning to scholarships to help them pay for college. If you are new to the world of College funding we can offer some advice as how to apply for scholarships. Scholarships have a reputation of being for just the smart kids but that is so far from the truth. Every student can apply and receive a scholarship if you simply know where to look. The money is out there, you just have to take matters into your own hands and find the money. Here is a stepbystep guide on how to apply for scholarships.

Step One: It is always a good idea to start researching scholarships and College funding early. It is a good idea to start looking at the end of their Junior year. You should gather what scholarships are available and how to request the applications and keep track of deadlines. Ask your parents and your school guidance counselor for help, they will know exactly what scholarships are available.

Step Two: It is important to read all of the eligibility requirements very carefully. There are requirements that you have to meet. Try filling out the scholarship applications with your parents or guidance scholarships. You want to make sure that you fill these out properly and you meet the necessary requirements.

Step Three: You are going to need a lot of information before filling out these applications. You will need your parents’ financial information as well as mortgage payments and tax returns. Make copies of these papers and then create a folder, one for each scholarship you are applying for. Some applications will require the financial information be sent along with the application.

Step Four: Gather your scholarship documents. Most scholarships will require your High School Transcripts as well as your SAT scores.
