    There are so many scholarships out there for the taking. There are general scholarships that all students are eligible for but there are also scholarships that cater to certain Majors and Engineering is one of them. If you are or going to be an Engineering Student, there are some scholarships out there that you need to be aware of. Engineering Students can get scholarships through their College or through National Scholarships. There are some scholarships out there that you may not have been aware of. Let’s take a look and see what is out there.

    The Barry Goldwater Scholarship: Every year over 300 students from all over the United States receives this scholarship. The Barry Goldwater Scholarship has a maximum of $ 7500.00. These awards are given out to students who wish to study not just engineering but science and math as well. To be eligible for this particular scholarship you must be a junior or senior in College and you cannot apply for this scholarship yourself. In order to receive this scholarship you must be nominated by a faculty member of the College or University you will attend.

    You must have a grade point average of at least a B and be in the upper fourth in your class. You must be a United States citizen or permanent resident. In order to have a faculty member nominate you the representative should establish the process to choose the bestqualified candidates for nomination. They will help their nominees prepare for the competitions. You will also need your Nominee Essay that is written by the student and will relate to the career path of the student. You should include the transcript from your current College and any other secondary school transcripts.

    This scholarship will cover the expenses for tuition, fees, books and room and board. The $ 7500.00 is awarded on an annual basis. These scholarships are for Undergraduate Students only. These scholarships are not transferable to other Colleges. If you are a Junior in College then the scholarship has a maximum of 2
    year support. If you have chosen to study overseas the funding will be based on the United States Institution for Studying Abroad’s budget.

    Each scholarship that is handed out will be all across the United States and even to some students on Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. You must be a legal resident of the United States. As we mentioned earlier these scholarships are for Undergraduate Majors in Math, Science and Engineering. Here are some of the majors that qualify for these undergraduate scholarships. Astrophysics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Mathematics and Environmental Sciences just to name few.

    There are so many great scholarships out there for students who wish to study in the fields of Math, Science and Engineering. If you wish to receive these scholarships talk to a faculty member in your College and find out how you can become eligible to become a nominee. Every student has a good chance of winning these scholarships but in order to try you must be nominated.
