    Charlottesville is a comfortable, easygoing southern town with a unique cosmopolitan flair. Its modest population of less than 50,000 people includes the student body of the University of Virginia. This excellent institution of higher learning has an allAmerican history.
    It was founded way, way back in 1817 by none other than the great American president, Thomas Jefferson. In fact, Jefferson’s famed home, Monticello was in Charlottesville. The school was later attended by the famed novelist, Edgar Allen Poe.
    As is true for most college towns, Charlottesville has lots of pubs … bars … restaurants … shopping … entertainment … and nightlife. The town’s center is at the pedestrianonly Downtown Mall. Fashioned after Europeanstyle pedestrian malls, the area is home to a number of upscale pubs that are generally frequented by the University of Virginia’s wellheeled student body. Among the best known places to stop and share a beer and, perhaps, a hamburger or even better fare, are Michael’s Bistro … The Buddhist Biker Bar … and the favorite stop for students – “The Corner.”
    Charlottesville is also a wonderful place for families. In fact, it hosts many family
    friendly galas and festivals each year and is, in fact, a wonderful place to raise a family. The town has very strong Christian underpinnings.
    Another interesting feature of Charlottesville is the fact that many handsome 19th century buildings are still standing today. They are treasured, revered and very wellpreserved.
    Students love attending class at The University of Virginia because it is a little different from other universities around the country. For instance, the area around the school is called “the Grounds” and not “the Campus.” Why … no one really knows. But little things like that help make the University of Virginia just a bit different from every other university. And that is only one of the reasons why the school is popular with students the day they arrive.
    It’s a comfortable school with a unique perspective of itself situated in a comfortably small city that’s safe, friendly – a great place to live and learn.
    If you’re about to start a college career, you need to think carefully about attending the University of Virginia. It could turn out to be one of the great experiences of your life. The truth is that Charlottesville, home to the University of Virginia is considered one of the ten best college towns in the entire United States. Yes … it’s that good.
    If you choose to spend four years in Charlottesville – and at the University of Virginia – you’ll discover what so many others who came before you found out: life in a small southern University town is the equivalent of “heaven on earth.”
    It’s a great place to come to … a great place to stay at – for the people … for the education … for the weather (it’s mostly very good) … and most importantly of all, for the experience. You’ll profit from the education you receive, but you’ll always remember where you got it – in Charlottesville, Virginia.
