Best College Towns - Burlington, Vermont

There are many good college towns in America and only a few great college towns. Burlington, Vermont is considered by many to be one of the latter. People love this place … for many good reasons. Nestled between the Winooska River and majestic Lake Champlain, Burlington is picturesque … truly scenic and beautiful.
It has a modest and very manageable population and has been cited as one of the ten best places to raise a family in the United States. That makes it the recipient of high praise and a place in which it may be worth to come to … and stay. It’s that good.
In fact, in addition to the University of Vermont and the student body that turns it into a funfilled college town, Burlington has many other things to offer, as well. Burlington is also home to Shelburne Farm, an incity park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr. the man who designed New York’s famed Central Park. Shelburne Farm is filled with hiking trails, and breathtaking views of the Green Mountains, Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. It is truly inspiring and memorable.
The town is also home to Ben & Jerry’s worldfamous ice cream factory and there is worldclass skiing available at nearby ski resorts. Here is one more thing worth noting: Vermont has the only United States Senator who openly calls himself a Socialist … that is Senator Sanders. His home is in this picturesque and stunningly beautiful college town. And that should come as no surprise.
