Boulder, Colorado, home to the University of Colorado, has a population of about 100,000 people … stands 5,400 feet above sea level … and is located about thirty miles northwest of Denver, the state’s largest and bestknown city.
Residents of Boulder love the lifestyle. Its weather is sunny and dry most of the year, temperate and mostly comfortable during winter, with daily temperatures between 50 and 60 degrees. In addition to the University of Colorado, Boulder also is home to Naropa University, a small, Buddhist
oriented educational institution founded by the famed counterculture poet, Allen Ginsburg.
In addition to being one of America’s best college towns, Boulder is also a sensational outdoors city. There are roughly 120 miles of winding trails for hiking and sightseeing … majestic and panoramic views of the spectacular Rocky Mountains … even great skiing within reasonable distance of this “resort
like” city that is considered one of the best places to live in the United States.
It is true that, because Boulder is a college town, it is lively and spirited most of the time. While its politics tends to be left of center (not unusual for a place where college professors and students live), it is still remarkably diverse and open to all political philosophies.
The famed Pearl Street Mall is considered the center of town. It is here that you will find the greatest concentration of pubs … bars … restaurants … shops … and entertainment. Pedestrianfriendly, university students tend to gravitate here when not studying for exams.
Boulder is also home to a number of government
run scientific institutions where many studies are regularly conducted. But it may be most famous for the following: the Atomic Clock. What is the Atomic Clock? It defines the world’s time. It is, in fact, the most accurate depiction of time anywhere in the world.
With two universities, one large and one small … great, worldclass restaurants … fun and exciting nightlife (catering to collegeage guys and gals) … outdoor activities to please every taste … inspiring scenic beauty … diverse political opinion and culture – it’s small wonder that Boulder, Colorado is considered one of the best places to live in the United States.
It is also thought to be one of the ten best college towns. If you’re planning your college career, consider the University of Colorado or Naropa University. You’ll have the opportunity to learn … earn a degree … and have fun doing it.
Here’s another bonus: Boulder is a great western city for another important reason: it makes other great western cities much more easily accessible. Denver is close and within reach by car. Other great northwestern cities are within reach, as well. And anyone who has traveled to America’s west knows how wonderful it is … a great place to visit with lots of scenery and outdoor fun to enjoy.
So if you choose to go to school in Boulder, you’ll enjoy benefits you may not have even considered. And they all have to do with travel to other nearby locations. Enjoy yourself.
