If you are considering a military career, have you considered the Army? There are more high school students who are thinking about a military career first and then going to college. One obstacle that you may have is your parents, they see the negative sides of the military because there are so many places where soldiers are getting hurt that they don’t want that fro their children. But there are so many great benefits of joining the Army. Here are some of the great things behind joining the Army. While you are in the Army you will be also earning a paycheck. While earning a paycheck in the Army would not be as good as getting a civilian job, the Army takes care of health care which is a huge topic these days, they take care of subsidized food, housing and they even have a hand in paying for an education. So joining the Army should be about more than just a paycheck. When you join the Army you will receive a Food Allowance this is given by the Basic Allowance for Subsistence or BAS. This program allows the Army to pay for food for all Enlisted Soldiers and Officers who are authorized to eat off of the base; the monthly allowance is about $ 200. You will also receive a Housing Allowance; Enlisted Soldiers are eligible to receive a yearly allowance to replace worm uniforms and uniform decorations. If you have a job where uniforms are not required, the Army will provide you with a civilian clothes allowance. Once you join the Army you have to keep in mind that you could be stationed anywhere in the continental United States and even overseas. Soldiers are paid a Cost of Living Allowance, this allowance is given to help offset the cost of things like food, clothing, transportation and some other non housing items. Now, if the Army issues you a permanent change of station move then they will provide a moving and relocation allowance. This allowance covers household items, cost of moving and even temporary lodging if needed. You may also receive a permanent change of station grant called Dislocation Allowance. Lastly the Army allows for the Family Separation Allowance. This is given when soldiers are assigned or possibly deployed to another location where the military will not move families. The soldier is given a Family Separation Allowance of $ 250 per month to cover some family expenses while the soldier is away. There are many great monetary benefits of the Army. There should be more than a paycheck that convinces you to join the Army. Soldiers who are in the military just for the paychecks don’t believe that they can get employment elsewhere, if this is your reason for joining the Army then reconsider. There are other great advantages of being able to stand up and represent for your country. Take some time and consider everything before making a decision on your future. |
