There are college campuses all over the United States, some are located in big cities and others are located in more rural areas. There are some good things about going to school in the city and some good things about going to school in more rural areas. Let’s take a look at what the good parts of the city schools and what the good things about a more rural school are. We will start with the city schools. There will be more students from around your own area attending a city school. These schools will most likely have a lot more students; this is good to make new friends. But with more students, there may be less room in classes.

Going to a city school could be good since the school would be located in a city that has many means of transportation, more bookstores, a local library and many places to eat. If you are living on campus, you can absorb what the big city has to offer such as theaters, museums and local sites. For example, if you are going to school at say New York University and you are not from New York you now have the chance to see things like the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty.

With the good comes the bad about getting around the city. Since there may be more than one college in the city, you have students all over trying to find housing off campus or just more traffic with students commuting. Attending a city school is a unique experience and if you have the chance to attend a city school, you certainly can learn a lot. Now, if attending a school that is not so urban there are the colleges that are located in the more rural areas is what you are looking for there are some good points as well as some bad points.

A good point is that the environment will be less hectic. With city schools, there is a lot more traffic and sometimes there is an over abundance of students attending these colleges. Colleges in rural areas have a certain allotment of places for students. There would be fewer students per class and you will get a more personal approach to your classes. You will also be able to get around better when the school is located in a rural or country style setting.

The tuition may be less since it is not a city school, in some cities like New York, Stanford or Los Angeles the costs for school may be higher. Now the downside of attending a rural college and that is transportation. If you live on campus without a car, you may need to find rides into the town or city to go shopping or go to the movies. You would also have to go into town to get more culture of the city that is nearest to you. Every college no matter where it is located is dedicated 100% to ensure that you get a good education. The location of the school is simply a matter of preference.
