Grease: Are You the One That I Want?

Is it just me, or has anyone else seen Grease: You're the One That I Want? I was sitting on the couch awaiting the premiere thinking this is just going to be another American Idolbased show. But, after the 90 minutes were up, I realized it's a lot better than American Idol and other wanna be series. There was a very diverse group of people in Chicago and L.A. There were AfricanAmericans and Asians. There were Brunettes and RedHeads. And different shapes and sizes too. But, as Oliva NewtonJohn said, it would be kind of cool if Sandy looked different. The same goes to Danny. Of course, the object of this show is to find the two stars of the new Broadway production of Grease. The judging panel consists of Kathleen Marshall, who will be the director and choreographer of Grease, Jim Jacobs, the codreator of Grease, and the producer David Ian. We have not yet chosen our favorites, but I'm sure that by the finale, we will all have our favorites. And our host, Billy Bush, tries his best to relax and comfort the contestants. He even tried to bring one, Fawn, out again. But, once more, she was rejected. But the one question I have is: What if America chooses two people with okay voices but big personality? Would the show be as good? That's what David Ian stated in an interview. He was concerned that the critics and the US of A would think it's a socalled stupid idea. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I believe that it's a good idea marketingwise and for sure, tons of people will see the show. But my one question still ponders me. My father thinks almost the same, but he is convinced that the judges will eliminate any contestants that don't have enough talent. Hopefully, that is the case. Until then, we can just laugh at the horrible auditions and clap at the amazing ones. For your information, the reason this isn't an Idol wannabe show is because the contestants have to be skilled at acting, dancing, and singing which is more than just one talent. Anyhow, we will have to wait till the Grande Finale to see if America has chosen the next two biggest Broadway stars.
