3 Big Problems; Education, Global Warming, ReligionRelated ArticlesLet me start by saying that even though I am writing this article, I do not completely agree with the ideas stated here. I am merely trying to draw light to three problems that I believe should be commonly known and thought about. Now, in order of priority, I will explain the three problems I believe will be the downfall of humans.
#1 Global Warming I know that the readers, after seeing the global warming title, are now reluctant to read the rest of the article. Bear with me please. So much about this topic is discussed in everyday life and I’m sure that many people get sick of it, but I’m going to take a different approach to this particular problem. See, I don’t believe that changing energy sources is going to do anything to this problem. I think we are too far for that. It’s not the fossil fuels we are burning continuously that is the issue here. It’s population. For every species on Earth in a chosen habitat, there is a carrying capacity that is healthy for the animals to stay at. Even though we hate to consider ourselves animals, we also have a carrying capacity. The only difference between ours and the animals is that when the animals go above the limit, they get killed off by disease or famine. We don’t. Currently, we are about two billion people above the limit and nothing is happening to decrease this number. I’m not promoting killing off two billion people, but Earth cannot sustain so many humans. It wasn’t made for that amount. So what do we do? Well, we could try to colonize the moon as many have thought of or find a way to live underwater, but the underlying fact is, is that this problem cannot be fixed. #2 Adaptation = Out of style? I’m not insulting humans in any way with this topic. I’m human and I love being human. However, the 2nd obstacle facing us is sadly our fault. Because of our ignorance and greed, we have chosen not to adapt to the morphing world. We are a relic from a few thousand years ago that has not improved much. Maybe we don’t need to improve, but consider this. Global warming is going to create a climate shift and I’m not sure that airconditioning or a coat will be enough to save humanity. Forests will become deserts, the oceans will rise dramatically, tropical storms will increase, and vegetation will suffer. If humans had allowed themselves to be open to the elements and the slow changes of the world, we might be prepared for this. We may have adapted to live under the sea or survive out in the desert without a fan. Unfortunately, we didn’t think that far ahead when we created our convenient and luxurious homes that stunt us from growth. The question here: Is our technology advanced enough to save us or will the natural world prevail with it’s vengeance? #3 Basis of Religion (don’t throw rocks!) I can already feel that I’m going to be deeply hated and scrutinized for writing this, but someone has to say it. Disclaimer: I attend church regularly, I believe in God, I worship God, and I’m not the AntiChrist. I hope that you keep that in mind while sharpening your pitchforks. Religion quite possibly is false and purely a security blanket for humans. Please let me explain. Religion was created ultimately by humans because they wanted to feel protected. It’s so much better to live a life of honor and know that you will end up in heaven then live a lonely, isolated life. To people, feeling that someone is watching over them and taking care of them, helps them lead productive, clean lives. Granted, this isn’t a bad thing because it effects the morals and happiness of society, but it’s false. We thought up the idea of God because we didn’t want to be alone! We didn’t want to think that our legacy just ended and was for nothing. I don’t want to think that! I don’t think that! I’m just saying that people that kill for God or spend their lives worshipping him every second consider that this all might be just a myth like Santa Claus. |
