It is also a park a parent can enjoy too. Kona is one of the oldest skate parks in the United States. It has been around since skateboarding was a baby, and now it is still a historical place. Some of the 80’s style creations that were there long ago are still there and ready to rip up. Kona is a place for fun. They have many events and happenings there that can keep you coming back. You can tell Kona looks out for their customers. They have safety rules that keep the little ones safe. It’s a great deal for the older advanced kids. Kona is one of the cheapest parks in FL. Just 10 bucks for 10 glorious hours of skating a huge park. You can also pay half that price with a membership registration. Kona’s workers are cool to the core. In the late 70’s Kona’s terrain was being skated by some of today’s famous skaters. It is known for helping many skaters’ progress, and has many memories for some people who used to skate there, and some still do. It has an amazing 80’s style street course that just begs to be skated, an awesome snake run, a J run and an awesome pool. Followed by a mini street course, a big street course, two half pipes, and a mini spine with a transition. Many events take place at Kona. During Halloween they do pumpkin carving contest and dress up skate days. They hold many contests and demo’s also. They have tours such as Tony Hawk’s Gigantic Skate Park Tour, Matt Hoffman’s Crazy Freaking Bike Tour, and etc. Throughout the year there are events for the whole family that take place. Also, things take place weekly. Such as Wednesday is Senior Citizen night, a night specially designed for old school skaters themselves. They play 70’s and 80’s rock and roll, and old school skaters only have to pay a dollar to skate. There is also Monday’s Team night and Sunday’s Dollar Sunday. On Team Night skaters on a team, any team, skate for a dollar, on Dollar Sundays, members skate for a dollar. As you see, it’s true.
