The Music Clashes: Why racism still extist ri

Have you ever noticed how much attention you get if you listen to a different type of music? What is the first thing a person you are trying to become friends with asks you? "What is your favorite type of Music?" Right? If you answer with some weird type, I can almost bet you anything that the person doesn't really want to be your friend. Trust me from my own experiance!

I am now 15 and about 2 years ago all I listened to was Spice girls, Backstreet Boys, Nsync, Britney Spears, Etc. Stuff like that which there is nothing wrong with, but then I discovered the world of Alt. Rock! I am not a rocker, nor anything close. I just enjoy the music, it has helped me through a lot. About 1 year ago I discovered the wonderful world of Rap, Hip Hop, it is cool with it's get up and dance beats and whatnot, but no one understands why I like both kinds! So I wonder what am I suppose to listen to? See I am a Mexican American. My friends say only "white people" listen to Rock, and then they say only "african american" people listen to Rap/Hiphop, and since they seem to think we are somehow more closely related to the black community we as Mexican American should listen to the rap, and hiphop. So why should this be? I give credit to all artists and such, but I wouldn't trade rock for any other type of music! It has more meaning then rap songs of these days. All I hear in rap songs and things similar to these is how they are going to get "some" and they are going to bang this and bang that. Well rock songs are about heartbreak, and meaning in life, but this is just my opinion and this is srictly what I think. I hope no one and I mean no one gets offended by this, I just think we should better focus on the music itself, and not who listens to it or who makes it, and other nonsense things like that so please follow my advice and listen to what your heart asks for!
