Their solo efforts have also been higly praised. Among many Beatle fans, the answer is evident that George Harrison has had the most successful solo career. With such releases as 1970's "All Things Must Pass" and 1987's "Cloud Nine", his songs always conveyed his deep spirtiual passion ("My Sweet Lord", "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)") and his love for satire ("When We Was Fab"). When he passed away on Novermber 29, 2001, he not only left behind an amamazing legacy, he also left behind some unfinished demos. With the production from his close friend and fellow Travelling Wilburys member, Jeff Lynne, his son Dhani, and himself, and the addition of some guitar and vocal tracks from Dhani and Jeff, Georges' last album "Braniwashed" was complete.
Brainwashed was released on November 18th, 2002. "So, sorry, George," Jeff Lynne said about the songs. "I made them a little bit posher than you may have wanted. But I felt I was only doing them justice." The song "Stuck Inside a Cloud" is going to be the first song off the album to be played on the radio. Songs such as "Pisces Fish" describes that fame and fortune never really mattered much to Harrison. The song "Last Saturday Night" is about hipocracy and secrets in the Catholic church. In the first song on the album, "Any Road", he sings about making descisions in your life and decideing which roads to take. His cover of the song "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" is enjoyable with George on ukelele. In the song "Looking for my Life", George reflects on the 1999 stabbing that nearly killed him and his long fight with cancer. The title track, "Brainwashed", is by far the best song on the album. Harrison sings about how we have been brainwashed by so many things, and that the answer to everything is God. "Brainwashed by computers/Brainwashed by mobile phones/Brainwashed by the sattelites/Brainwashed to the bone," sings Harrison on the amazing title track. Brainwashed has 12 songs, 11 being original compositions. George's amazing guitar playing and soothing voice make Brainwashed very pleasuareable to listen to. This album is not only George Harrison's best album yet, but is by far the best Beatles solo effort in years. Brainwashed is a must listen to album. The best words I have heard to describe Brainwashed? "It's totally my dad", says Dhani Harrison. "What we really strived to do is not impose on the album at all. "I don't want any personal gain from it, or take credit for this record." Any George Harrison or Beatles fan would agree: this album is very George. And that's not a bad thing at all.
