The Passion of the Christ

I was thrilled when I found out that my mom and I were going to be seeing The Passion of the Christ together. Everyone had been talking about the movie and how good it was, but nothing that anyone could have possibly told me would have prepared me for this movie. When we sat down in the theater and the lights dimmed, I leaned back in my chair expecting to come out of this movie somehow more enlightened and excited about God. What I recieved after watching this was so much more than that. I suppose one thing that was a little annoying about the movie was that it was all in Hebrew, which required you to read all of the subtitles, but in about ten minutes I completely forgot about it. I have always had a somewhat weak relationship with God, but after seeing what he was put through and how he died for us, it made me hurt. This was definitely not a movie for the squeamish. It wasn't a movie for someone that didn't really care about Jesus either. Watching the horror of it all shocked me and moved me so much, it was unbelievable. Watching Jesus being chastised in front of his entire village was enough to break my heart. Half of the people around me (including myself) had their eyes covered. You would think that seeing it would not be that big of a deal, but the reality of what Jesus went through is more than you can imagine. The producer definitely depicts Jesus and his life very...vividly to the audience. Almost every single person around me was sobbing by the end of the movie. I think that this was an excellent movie, and would highly reccommend it to anyone that would like to further their relationship with God. My only advice is to prepare yourself for the worst, because you will come out of that movie so shocked that the reality of it all wont even hit you until hours afterwards.
