PopularityRelated ArticlesDoes anyone remember the tv series Popular? Probably not because they axed it halfway through and for one reason only. It was about teenagers that got on with others regardless of social hierarchy.
High school is all about who's popular and who's not. It has nothing to do with education. As soon as you walk into high school you are put into a category, even before you have talked to anyone. It is all about the way you look! Glasses, hey presto! You're a dork. Football uniform, jock! Blonde, blueeyed girl, the prettiest, most popular girl in the school regardless of whether she is actually a nice person on the inside. Inside! Who cares about the inside! Not the popular people, I tell you! You have to be beautiful to lead a good high school life. If you're ugly, you're in trouble. For all of your high school career, you will be subject to regualar criticism by the beautiful people. But who dares to decide who's good enough and who's not? The media! No surprise there. If you wanna know how you should look in order to get far in life, visit your local newstands and scrutinize the magazine covers on the racks. Women should be skinny, blemish free, perfect teeth and hair, blonde, if possible, but brunette will do. Men should be tall, dark and handsome but again, brunette will do. Are you having a laugh? Not everyone can be perfect not even these models on the covers. They are touched up and probably as normal looking as you and me in real life! But, hey what the media portrays as being socially acceptable is what goes today! No one cares about what is on the inside. I'd start on about how people should care about what people are like on the inside, not the outside, but what is the point? No one is gonna listen so I'm not gonna bother! If you're reading this and you're beautiful, lucky you, you will go far in life. If you're reading this and you look like the back of a bus, or the front, I know how you feel and well, get used to the feeling of rejection because it's certainly a theme that will become recurrent in your life! PS. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston, Freddie Prz Junior and Nick Carter were all unpopular in high school and look where they are now. You wanna know what happened to the cheerleaders and the jocks? They all put on 10 pounds, ended up in a loveless marriage and are now unemployed. No word of a lie, I swear! |
