Moving From Iran to America: The Last GateRelated ArticlesI have never had a huge goal in my life, except the new goal that I created with my dad. In 2003, after having a lot of cups of tea and a long discussion with my dad we decided to move to America. That was the biggest decision I had ever made in my life, and it became my goal for several years. I had thought and dreamt every moment of my life about living in America. Even though this goal was not easy to reach, we had a lot of hope to make it happen because it would change my life, take me in a different direction and guarantee my success. After several years of having different sorts of difficulties, and spending a lot of money and time, November, 14, 2003 was the last night that me and my dad had in Iran. Every ten minutes the door opened and one of our relatives came in our house. There was a lot of noise all around the house; some people were happy, and some were sad, but I knew who the saddest person was, it was my ninetyfouryearold grandmother who had to say goodbye to her sixtyyearold son and me After our last night with the family our plane would take off at eight oclock the next morning. We knew we were going to be in America in a few days, but we were still nervous and worried, because from that day I had two more weeks before turning eighteen years old and being eligible for two years military service in Iran. We were concerned that the officer in airport who checks the passport might not let me leave the country, if this happened it would ruin the entire plan. It was the most stressful day for me and my dads life. Meanwhile we had a hard time sleeping. At six oclock in the morning, we were in Tehran airport. A couple of my best friends, my mom, and my brother were with us. Those were the last moments we were going to be together. We had to start going; after a remarkable time saying goodbye to friends, my mom and my brother, we headed to the inspection counter to drop off our luggage. It was going to take a short time to finish doing this at the inspection counter. The next step was the most important step, the final step that I call The Last Gate. We were so close to the last gate. At the small, kiosk an officer would seal our passport, and approve us to leave the country. My dad was feeling enormously nervous, and was I. We were in line, when I asked my dad if he would go first and wait for me. I saw that he was talking to the officer so calmly, but surely he was nervous inside about me. I couldnt think of anything at this time. I was just hearing noises in my ears without paying attention to understand them. I was following the line as it drew me closer to the kiosk. My dad had already passed the kiosk and was waiting for me. We were just watching each other hoping everything would go well for me. I got to the kiosk, and I said Hi to the officer. Suddenly, I felt nothing but just numb that there was nothing in this world except me and the officer in the airport. I was waiting to see what he was going to say. At the same time he was checking my passport I could think that he was going to be the most hated person in my life if he didnt seal my passport with a green seal. Suddenly he interrupted my imagination and said, Hey Sina, Do you know that this time is the last time you can leave the country? While I was making my mind up to say yes he raised the green seal and sealed it on my passport. Then I turned my head to the right and smiled at my mom and my brother and gave them the satisfying news and waved at them for the last time. At the moment, my father dropped all the pressure that he had been carrying. That was the hardest moment in my life, but we made a big change in our lives by deciding to move to the USA. Now when I concentrate and think about this situation I feel so bad for every people in this world because of how politicians make this world like a jail. Imagine how many big dreams and motivations of youths have been stopped because of not having an opportunity to make them come true. Imagine how many people had had leave their home and family to make their dream possible. Imagine how many people had left their country but they couldnt survive because of the different rules and borders that politicians had made to make the world Peaceful!!!
